Background:
Geoffrey’s early employment was in financial accounting, information technology and corporate training. He has
worked with various corporate enterprises and structures during his
management, consultancy and training career, including corporations in
the government, commercial, public and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to
embarking in several entrepreneurial opportunities, he was finance
manager of one of the largest mining companies in Australia, where he
participated in the implementation of an enterprise wide business
information system.
He established himself as a professional business consultant and corporate trainer with wide experience of business management and information systems spanning more than 25 years. Immediately prior to coming to Shanghai, Geoffrey operated his own independent consultancy servicing a wide range of corporate clients. He has worked extensively with adult learners, particularly in relation to business, software, marketing, change management and management skills.
Geoffrey’s academic research interests include International Accounting Standards, Computerised Business Information Systems, Corporate Governance, Knowledge Management, TBL Accounting, Change Management and International Marketing. He has been a contributor and co-author of several successful Business English publications for a major Shanghai university.
At a personal level, Geoffrey enjoys time with his friends, cooking [Specialty: Southern European], wine appreciation and most water sports, including swimming, surfing and boating. He is an accredited boat, jet ski and yacht operator. He also enjoys passive pursuits such as reading, music and live theatre. He has lived in Shanghai since June 2005.
