Welcome to Raffles Design Institute, Guangzhou, China

Raffles Design Institute-Guangzhou was found in 2002. The college is developed through the joint cooperation of Singapore Raffles Education Corporation and Guangzhou University-College of Science & Trade, Guangzhou China.
The college offers 3 years Bachelor of Arts (Honors) Degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design and 2.5 years of Bachelor of Commerce in conjunction with Raffles University. All the programmes are taught in English and the lecturers come from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Singapore and Europe etc.

Admission

Students who process high school certificate or equivalent can apply for the program.
The following are to be submitted to the Admission Staff of Raffles Design Institute-GZ at the time of registration:

1. Duly completed application form
2. Photocopy of highest attained education qualification
3. Photocopy of personal identification card
4. Two 2-inch photographs and a three 1-inch photographs

Academic Calendar – Course Intakes

Raffles College Group has 4 intakes annually - January, April, July and October. This allows students to commence their studies throughout the year at a time convenient to them and ensures that our graduates enter the workforce at four separate times through the year, thus maximizing employment prospects for graduates as well as serving the ongoing human resource needs of business and industry.

The academic year consists of 4 terms of 12 weeks each; with one week break in between terms. Examination for the term takes place on the 12th week.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction for our courses is in English. Students are expected to be proficient in English at a level which allows them to function in the program. Students whose English language skills are judged to be inadequate will be required to take an English language (ESL) course.

English Language Proficiency

Have you got?
TOEFL - minimum 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based);
IELTS - minimum 6.0;
GCE 'O' Level English - minimum C6;
High School English Pass grade (minimum) in an English medium school. * Test result achieved not more than 2 years ago.
If YES, you are exempted from the English program at Raffles Design Institute-GZ. Please provide evidence / proof of your achievements to the Admissions Department.
If NO, You must take an English Placement test with us. The only other way to achieve an exemption is to score 85% or above on our placement test, and satisfy our spoken and written English requirements.

Facilities

Airport pick up

The school can arrange for someone to pick her up from the airport if she wants. Taxi fare from the airport to our college is about RMB150.

Accommodation

As for international students, our staff in RGZ can assist you in finding a rented apartment according to your expectation and budget.
In addition, get enough cash ready for initial spending and apartment rental (you may need to pay advance rental of up to 3 months) Normal rental for Guangzhou ranging from RMB 500 to RMB 1,500 depending on location.

Student Visas (Guangzhou)

You can get a tourist Visa to enter to China and the school will process the Student Visa application.
Things to provide for visa application:

1. Letter of Acceptance for Admission (Raffles –Guangzhou will issue).
2. 10 x 2" photograph
3. Fee: US$500 and 500rmb
4. Undergo a medical examination (cost borne by student)

It will take about 4 – 6 weeks to process the student visa.
